Sergei Tchelakov

Sergei Tchelakov is a seasoned soccer professional whose life and career have been defined by the "beautiful game." Born in Donetsk, Ukraine, Sergei’s journey began at the world-renowned Shakhtar Donetsk Youth Academy, where he honed his craft from 1972 to 1980. This elite training paved the way for a successful professional career with Shakhtar-2, where he competed as a clinical striker from 1980 to 1984. During his professional tenure, Sergei made 96 appearances and netted 43 goals, earning a reputation for his tactical intelligence and consistent scoring ability.

After hanging up his boots, Sergei transitioned his passion for the pitch into a prolific coaching career. For decades, he has been a pillar of the Northern California soccer community, mentoring youth and select teams across Humboldt County, Novato, and Central Marin. His influence extends to the high school level, having led programs at Eureka, Branson, and Drake High Schools.

With a coaching philosophy rooted in technical excellence and character development, Sergei brings a unique perspective shaped by international professional play. Today, he remains committed to cultivating the next generation of athletes, sharing the deep knowledge and unwavering dedication that have defined his lifelong relationship with soccer.
